This ODST is simply a marvelous figure. It makes me wish they had put out more waves in the ODST line, or that I had managed to get the Rookie or Buck, which are the two that were released.

PROS:

• Magnificent detail. All of the lines are crisp, clean, and have a purpose. No 'wandering' scuplt lines or seams that track off to nowhere. 
• Good paint apps. There is the ever so small smudge of sloppiness on the VISR edge where the metallic blue touches grey, but I can live with it, which means normal people would never even notice it.
• Highly articulated. I suppose it says something about how spoiled toy collectors are these days that the ODST figure's 28 points of articulation are considered good, but not ground breaking. mine is new, and a bit stiff, but looks like he is ready for action.
• Hidden joints. Due to 'floating' armor plates, our ODST hero looks far less felxible than he is, as most of his joints are hidden by his gear.
• Holds his gun. Really, that's so rare it excites me to find it.

CONS:

• Scaling. This figure is as tall as the Master Chief, and is a little bit more burly.I suspect this is because they switched scale slightly in the transition between the Halo 3 and Halo Reach series. This ODST is likely in scale with my Noble Six figure. I wish it was handy for photography. maybe another time.
• Flexibility. I have already listed articulation as a pro. Plus I have mentioned how they joints look good since they are covered by gear. well, all of that comes at a price, as our friend the ODST seems to get gear blocking a lot of the ways he wants to move. This seems particularly noticeable at the ankles, where his greaves make posing his feet dicey.
• Small Feet. I know, a weird thing to notice, but even at his increased scale from Master Chief, our ODST's feet are half the size. What does this dude wear, like a size four? It makes him somewhat difficult to stand up, especially with his other ankle issues at large.

Final verdict. It's a great fig, and looks terrific posed or displayed. All of his accessories work exactly how they are supposed to. he just winds up being a little less fun to play with than the earlier waves due to being well, nicer.

Your best bet would be to pick up an action figure magazine (like Action Figure Digest) that has price listings for all the figures...

Then, look and see which ones are currently going for the most money, and those will be the ones that are worth the most in the future (most likely, anyway).

Usually, it will be a figure that has some kind of RARE variant... like, some of the Boba Fett figures... some have different paint jobs than others...

Unfortunately, I don't think ANY of the newer line of figures will ever really be worth that much because SO MANY people have collected the newer line of Star Wars figures. there might be a couple that will be worth a lot, but not many... I mean... there are SO MANY...

That's one of the main reasons why the original figures are worth so much today (if they are still in their original package), is that just about everybody who bought those back in the 70's, opened them up and played with them!! it wasn't quite so popular to collect stuff back then...

Wow... it's been awhile since our last post. to be honest, after Jesse got some more Star Wars LEGO for Christmas, including the Venator-class Republic Attack Cruiser, he has spent most of his time having epic LEGO Star Wars battles. He did built a cool mech which I will hopefully post in the coming weeks. onto the Lego Custom Minifigures...

Although we were able to get five Series 1 minfigures from the Lego.com site, we had no luck trying to track these down locally for almost a month. We finally got the lowdown that Toys R Us was getting a restock "early" this week. I called the closest store Monday...none...I called Tuesday...none...Wednesday...GOLD!

We drove to the store ready to drive away with a trunk full of figures (just kidding...kinda) only to find out they were behind the customer service desk with a 2 per family limit. that put a serious damper in our plans to try and get a full set, or a LEGO zombie army. oh well. after collectors wiped the first batch off the shelves in record time I can see why they put the limit.

On a whim I called a Toys R Us on the other end of the city, and they had them as well. The girl I talked to kindly informed me that I would find the at the front of checkout #1. that had my hopes up that we would be able to walk away with more than 2 this time. Thankfully this store had a 4 per person limit, so with the wife in tow we walked away with 12 figures. Well actually 24. The store had two entrances so we purchased the first batch at the back entrance, then went in and bought another 12 from the front entrance.

With all the figures we bought we are only 1 figure short of a complete set. The Cheerleader is apparently the hardest figure to get, and I'm hoping that I can use some of our duplicates to trade someone for her. Or there is always eBay which is going to be the only place to get these, as LEGO is completely sold out.
