OFFBEAT: 'Clash of the Titans' a blend of the best of old and new
When the original “Clash of the Titans” arrivedin movie theaters in the summer of 1981, I was 10 years old. So as a young fan of Greek mythology, it was the promise ofseeing all of the most frightening and fascinating creatures fromthe pages of World Book Encyclopedias brought to life on the bigscreen, that had me bugging my parents to take me to see it. Even back then, just as epic films like “StarWars” were really taking off, I also remember amerchandising bonanza of toys and action figures associated with”Clash of the Titans,” another reason that kept me wide-eyed withanticipation.
