How do you fix lego digital designer crashing?

Can someone please help me to fix my lego digital designer on my computer? I downloaded the program to my gateway personal computer with windows vista and everything, but each time I try to use lego digital designer it opens but doesn't show the images or selections, it just starts flashing and flashing and I can't click on any option to build or anything. someone please help me!
