The big Old Republic news coming out of EA’s E3 keynote will undoubtedly be Bioware’s sumptuously rendered cinematic trailer, whose stirring score and dramatic combat is guaranteed to generate a plethora of streaming video hits. it likely overshadowed the tidbits that preceded it, including the reveal that every single player who signs up for the EA/LucasArts/Bioware joint venture will have access to their own personal starship.
Fans of the Millennium Falcon and Slave I definitely pricked up their ears. Spacefaring badasses need to travel in style, and thank God the MMO’s designers realize this immortal truth. Though the concept art displayed during the press conference leaves much to the imagination, the thought of specially-modified, point-five-past-lightspeed player houses/status symbols clogging up the spaceports of this highly anticipated game is enough to ratchet up the excitement even further.
